Data protection, privacy and freedom of information

• all aspects of the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) e.g. advising on notification, subject access requests, transferring personal data overseas, data protection/privacy policies, collecting and using of personal data in direct marketing campaigns
• all aspects of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) e.g. advising companies and individuals in relation to exercising their right to request access to information held by public authorities; and advising public authorities on the developing procedures for handling and responding to such requests for information
• referring matters to and responding to enquiries from the Information Commissioner
• acting for applicants and respondents in court applications arising from breaches under the DPA, FOIA and EIR
• delivering DPA, FOIA and EIR compliance audits and training
